More photos of our little Penny

Daddy and his little girl.
On our way home from the hospital

How Cliff are Jenna are.

Whew - the past week has been so very scary, yet Cliff has rallied and isdoing great. He was moved from the burn unit to the intermediate care uniton Saturday - which is a step up from critical care but still needing oneon one care; he also still has a feeding tube, but no catheter! A simpleexplanation of what has happened came from the neurological team that isnow caring for Cliff: Cliff had 5 major "things" going on at once -electrical shock, heart stopping, being knocked to the ground and that headinjury, brain injury, burns. And then to top this off, a viral infectiontook hold of his already compromised body - from his spinal cord to hisskin, and just about grabbed him. But I am convinced - talk to me later, that prayers, fasting, good thoughts, well wishes, good doctors, greathospital care, and a loving wife pulled him through all of this. He ishealing, and this is such a blessing - talk to me later.
With all of this of course comes a longer stay in the hospital and still aneed for Cliff and Jenna to concentrate all of their energy on his healing. He is having physical therapy daily - he is walking a little, and hisgrafts and amputations are healing nicely. He will begin rehabilitationthis week, and hopefully by the end of the week or first of next, Cliffwill move into the rehabilitation area of the hospital.
No visitors, yet, but as always, thoughts, well-wishes, and e-mails aregreatly appreciated.

Another update on Cliff and Jenna

Ronda emailed this to me a few days ago.

This past week has been pretty tough. On top of Cliff's burns and headinjuries, he now has a serious viral infection. We have been told it istreatable, but that he needs at least a 14-21 day IV treatment of a stronganti-viral medication. The doctors are confident that this infection is thecause of the below related problems, including the seizures last week.
He has had a rough time sleeping the past several days, he's stilldisoriented, and he has some terrible sores on his body. Please keep himand Jenna in your prayers and thoughts. It is said it is the darkest justbefore dawn, and we are praying that dawn comes soon.

Everything went really well, Bambi did a wonderful job and has had an amazing recovery. We'll be home saturday afternoon. I'd like to thank everyone for your love and support during the last few eventful weeks.

Here's some pics so ya'll can share in the joy.

Happy Birthday Big Brother!

I just wanted to send a shout out to Josh on his birthday. I hope it is a good day for you, the new daddy again. Congrats on Beckham. We love you to pieces!

The most recent update on Cliff and Jenna.

Jenna found out on Saturday that Cliff's set-backs were caused by 2 minorseizures last week. He was taken off the dylantin after a week (which istypical), and shortly after this he had the first seizure, then a second adaylater. The doctors say this is not a cause for concern (ha!), but just partof the process of healing. He is back on dylantin as well as sodium - wherea depletion can also affect brain injuries.
It was a tough weekend with Cliff feeling well enough to go on longwheelchair rides, but not well enough to carry on conversations or reallydo much interaction. The sodium and no food/liquids rule has been tough onhim - he is thirsty and feels dehydrated - a swollen tongue and sore throatthat make it hard to communicate, but he's also coughing up crap out of hislungs - which is good, but the caregivers don't want any chance of himaspirating and/or getting pneumonia - hence the feeding tube.
The staples holding the final layer of his head wound were removed today, and his foot and hands are healing - we are blessed. However, his headinjury is still going to need quite some time to heal. It will be awhilebefore he's able to come home.
We appreciate all of your prayers, e-mails, and cards. Please continuethese. It's overwhelming - the kindnesses that have come Jenna and Cliff'sway. The doctors and nurses continue to stress the importance of novisitors right now. Cliff gets easily confused and anxious, and thedoctors, nurses, and therapists have said that now is the time for him tobe healing. He will begin all sorts of therapy tomorrow - for this we aregrateful.

Update on Cliff and Jenna

For those of you who know one of my best friends Jenna and her awesome husband Cliff Holm and have an interest in how things are progressing I thought I would post this update that I was emailed this morning by Jenna's mother.

This has been a week of ups and downs - Cliff's surgery went well - hisgrafts are healing. Cliff was moved to a room with a door rather than acurtain, he began eating solid food, and he was able to go on somewheelchair rides around the hospital. However, Cliff's head injury is stillserious - he is back with a catheter and a feeding tube for the time being. We have been told that he has taken 2 steps forward and 3 steps back -which we are also told is typical with a head injury as serious as his.
Those caring for Cliff, have requested no visitors for the time being. Heneeds stimulating conversation, but he gets very disoriented and confusedeasily. His heart rate stabilizes when he hears Jenna's voice - how sweet!
In the meantime, Cliff and Jenna's ward will be holding a fast on Monday,May 19, if you would like to participate - and we beg of you to keep bothCliff and Jenna in your prayers. We're still holding out hope that Cliffcan be home by Memorial Day.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Baby Update

We had an appointment this morning and we got to see the little baby. They pushed the due date back to June 13th because of how small she is. So that makes us 36 weeks today. Things look good and we are progressing along. My doctor said that I am 3.5 cm right now but every time we get checked it is different so who knows what we really are at.

To all you mommies out there make sure to keep your kids hands clean, especially when going out or seeing other children. My little 2 year old nephew is in the hospital because of a virus that he caught from his cousins. They don't really have a name for the virus but apparently it causes them to reject foods and liquids. He was very dehydrated when they took him in. They are keeping him for a minimum of 36 hours to make sure that he can keep foods down and that he gets his reserves up. The doctors told my brother that they have had several children admitting with the same thing over this past week and that it is going around, among other things. So be extra cautious and make sure that take hand sanitizers with you.

Where has May gone?

Wow, is it just me or does it feel like this month has flown by? Plus we are still pregnant. YEAH!!! I am really hoping that we last until June. We'll just have to see. Tennis and mommy have strep throat right now and don't feel so hot but we are getting better for sure. Just in time for the nice and warm weekend. We will definitely have to take advantage of the warm weather this weekend.

For those of you that know Cliff and/or Jenna, two of my few and very close friends. They have been going through some hard times. Cliff is in the hospital for a very scary accident at work that involved a powerline and some work equipment. He is getting better but they still aren't completely out of the dark. There is a link to thier blog on the left side of the page, but I am going to ask that everyone keeps them in thier prayers. Thank you!
